GEORGETOWN
Our day in historic Georgetown, Texas will begin with a morning of shopping in the Downtown Square. Dominated by the copper-domed Williamson County Courthouse, Georgetown's downtown business district retains its vitality, its architectural charm and its symbolic significance. Georgetown's Square represents one of the finest collections of high Victorian commercial architecture found in the state today.
We will enjoy lunch at one of the local popular cafes before boarding our coach and heading to the Belford National Register Historic District. The evolution of architectural forms and development patterns in Georgetown from the 1870's through the 1930's are chronicled within the district's 8-block area.
As we head back to Austin, we will stop at one of Georgetown's most popular attractions, The Candle Factory. A combination manufacturing plant and retail store, this facility is one of only three factories in the United States where candles are still hand-dipped. You can also see the resident artists hand-finishing wax figurines.
